The season of Lent is a 40-day period of preparation before Easter. From Ash Wednesday through Holy Week, the Christian Church remembers the suffering and sacrifice of Jesus Christ. It is a time to be dedicated to prayer, repentance, self-examination and renewal, which ends in the celebration of the Easter resurrection.
